Half sweep Twist

Strong Hold French Twist

A French twist is a commonly used "updo" hairstyling technique. It is created by gathering the hair together in one hand and twisting the hair upwards until it turns in on itself against the head. It is then secured with barrettes, combs, hair sticks and/or hairpins. It was popular from the late 1950s through the early 1970s.

French twists are commonly worn to proms, engagements, receptions and weddings. Hair clips are also usually used with French twists.

60’s Top Sweep

• Section hair about 4” apart.
• Sweep hair in crown and insert with teeth forward.
• Pull ends back while inserting a comb.

• Finish with end down.
• Hold ends down to flip the twist.

Stick twist

• Twist hair in the centre of the head.
• Place the hair stick across the top of the twist.
• Wrap over stick.
• Turn stick to 2 o’clock and inset.
• Push tip through left side of twist.

Long Hair French Twist

70’s Ponytail
